Shinola launches the Shinola Runwell, a collaboration with VPI
Today VPI Industries announced the result of their collaboration with Shinola, the Shinola Runwell turntable, made in America. The table launches in November, 2016, with a $2500.00 MSRP, including cartridge and phono stage.
“After two years of work, blood, sweat, and tears our collaboration with Shinola has come to light,” said Mat Weisfeld, CEO of VPI Industries. “This has been a labor of love to create an easy to use high end product with the quality and performance of a VPI and with the style and dedication of a Shinola product. The shared value of both companies is love for an American Made product and opportunity for the American worker.”
The Shinola “Runwell” has the platter and motor of a VPI Classic, the tonearm and usability (internal phono) of a VPI Player, and is designed to provide the feel of a true American-made muscle car. It will be machined and wired in New Jersey, and assembled in Detroit, where Shinola is based. Retailing for USD $2,500, it is available in November.
Shinola has mentioned the development of a turntable earlier this year in a designer profile, Shinola has made an investment into entering the audio market as a primary developer, stating “All audio products beyond the table are being developed in-house, will be developed in-house, and will be manufactured in-house.”
VPI has just recently added new tables their range under their own brand with the VPI Titan and Prime Signature.
The Runwell is available for order at Shinola.
